Dear SCGOP Members, Readers and Followers: Earlier today, our staff reposted a meme criculating on Facebook that was in rather poor taste, and not reflective of our party, nor our publishing standards. It is one thing to repost something on one's personal account, but an organizational account that reflects the identity and values of a large group of people is another thing altogether.
We recognized the post was inappropriate for our account, and we removed it 38 minutes after it was posted. Our apologies for any offense or embarrassment we may have caused. As the chair of the communications committee, the responsibility for all content on our sites and accounts rests with me, and I am chagrined at our misstep. I also believe that when you mess up, you own up.
I own this one, and I personally apologize. I assure all of you that this kind of thing won't happen again on my watch. These kinds of posts are not reflective of our party, our county, nor our values.
